Sites for IIT Online
A receiving site is a location where IIT has an agreement with a corporation, college or library to provide a viewing facility and other support required for students to participate in televised courses. Corporate sites are open to employees only. Public sites are open to all IIT students. These sites are equipped to receive a microwave signal that carries the course audio and video to a viewing room equipped with televisions, cable set-top boxes for tuning to IIT channels, telephones for phoning into the classroom, and headsets for listening (as appropriate).
A site also has a designated location where students can drop-off and pick-up course material, such as homework assignments, that will be exchanged with the IIT campuses by a designated courier. Some corporate sites may require students to express mail course materials directly to the IIT main campus. For more information about this requirement, please contact IIT Online Student Support Services. |
